Victory

Unbelievable.  The home owners came back and accepted our offer with a few minor modifications, so with all luch I will have a new house in a few weeks.  Of course, now stands the matter of selling our current home.  We held off putting it on the market in order to figure out our situation ( not many houses for sale in the desired school district) and now we may find ourselves in a two-mortgage scenario.  Yes, I know, not wise at all in the current market, but my timing plan was a bit off.  The omnepotence powers must be rusty.

On the bright side, my mom is going to watch my 2 year old tornado a few evenings this week so we can bust our butts and get it all finished.  There is really not that much to do, just a cleaning frenzy and staging.

Homestead

Buying a house is stressful, so is selling one. Doing both in this market, working two jobs, having a husband that works same two jobs and goes to school, and a sprightly two year old, defines a new kind of fun.

I am really trying to stay positive, but it is not easy for an uber-analytical planner. The sellers of the house we chose are not cooperating, and will not come down just a few thousand dollars that would seal the deal. My husband is of the philosophy of “I do not negotiate with terrorists” and refused to come up (sadly I agree, it being the most logical choice). In the wake of the turmoil, I see “my” new house slip through the fingers. Of course, it is still on the market, as beautiful as ever, but not mine.

My current house, that has no problems with it outside of the school district is a flurry of activity to get it ready for sale. Yes, I realize that my child is only 2 and there is time to select the schools, but I have to plan. No time like the present. So, this weekend I was introduced to the PODS concept. Brilliant, really. They drop of a 16×6 container in your driveway, you load it with all the junk you don’t use everyday (bye-bye snowboards) and a few days later, they pick it up. The POD is stored at a warehouse until you arrive at your new location, where it is delivered for you to unload. Your clutter is gone and you didn’t have to go through the drama of TLC’s Clean Sweep.

Again, we are in the dreaded condition of limbo. No new house, still old house that could be on the market in 3 days, the circle is complete. If the old house sells, we have no place to live. What then? Mother’s house? Mother-in-law’s house? I’ll keep you posted.

Change of direction

I have decided to abandon my project of cataloging answers to questions kids ask.  I have not lost interest in the topic, but I have found a website that accomplishes the task much better than I could.  Presenting:  FAQ Kids

Instead, I will continue to navigate the chaotic world that we live in and write about the effect it has on the analytical brain.
